Im 17 and still no facial hair, will i ever be able to grow a beard?

Last year when i just turned 16 about 5 scraggly hairs came under my chin, its not thick enough to be anything. It only grows an 8th of an inch and stops. When I look up in the mirror all I can see is skin and no hair. A whole year just went by and im 17 and I have not seen any increase at all. My father could grow a full goatee. Will my facial hair increase at all when i get older, it doesnt look like anything is happening. How old do I have to be to get a decent amount of facial hair. I been going through clinical depression and if i had facial hair it would be one less thing to worry about. I want to be able to shave my whole face soon. I think shaving is fun

I think it will, but you are lucky because you don't have to shave that often. If you want it to grow in faster try shaving often because it makes more hair grow quicker.

Dude I'm 26, and I am still filling in. I have gotten more chest hair this year than in like 5 years. P.S. The less the better shaving can get to be a bioutch.

i wouldn't worry about it, mine didn't grow in till 19, and by the time i was 23 i was sick and tired of shaving, it's a royal pain in my ***

This can depend on your genes. I am 22 and still cannot grow a full beard although I am now able to grow a goatee. It may take awhile, but you should be able to grow a beard at least by the time you are 25. Continue to shave your entire face even though you don't think anything is happening. It will help you develop your beard more quickly. Also don't worry too much about it. In my experience (and only my experience) the girls I have dated have preferred a clean shaved "baby-face" ;)

Have you tried shaving even though nothing is there?.

Have you spoken to your GP about this, it is maybe because your suffering from depression this may be slowing down the growth etc.

About the only way to increase facial hair is to increase the amount of testosterone in the bloodstream. A doctor could test for testosterone insufficiency and prescribe injections.
