Facial Hair Question - 17 Year Old With A Concern (bit strange!)?

Hi, Im 17 and obviously male, Im naturally very dark in hair colour and eye colour and for the past year or so (which is when my stubble first started to grow) my facial hair is also very dark. My current facial hair is almost black its so dark. Anyway the weird thing is when looking at it this morning I noticed I had ONE ginger hair!! Its really strange because Im REALLY dark in hair colour as I say, it didnt really stand out but im a bit concerned that I might start 'sprouting' more. Is there a chance I may? Or could it just be a one off for some reason?

meh, nothing to worry about. my boyfriend is black and has really dark brown hair, but on his back he has little tiny blonde hairs. he's like 2% irish so i'm thinking that might be it!

This can happen occasionally , I think you will find that it is just an odd rouge hair .

Ah, the ginger hair has already started! My hair was naturally dark, and I too started getting ginger hairs in my beard when I was in my early 20s.

Here's the kicker: all of my gingers turned white. I believe that your ginger will also become white over time.

Variations like that aren't unusual. It's not so much that we inherit one color or the other, maybe, as thay we inherit certain colors being turned on or off, but otherwise they're all there. Maybe the gene for ginger just got turned on in that one hair follicle. When I was little I had strawberry blond hair, but when I was old enough to shave only my sideburns were reddish, everything else was brown. I've known a lot of guys with a small patch of grey in a head of dark hair. In any case, I wouldn't lose sleep over it. If it gets to be a concern for you, you can always dye your beard all the same color.
