Facial hair reduction help for trans MTF?

I have a TG friend (MTF) who has fast growing facial hair, so I was looking to get her something that might slow it down a little bit, like a lotion or something. I was thinking something like Nair, but they advertise that it's dangerous to use on the face. She can't afford electrolysis, and shaving's not really effective because the hair grows really fast. Does anyone know of anything I could get her for Christmas that would be helpful?

The only permanent methods of removing facial hair are electrolysis or laser, neither of which can be done at home. You could buy her a voucher for a professional salon/clinic which carries out these treatments, but it will take more than one treatment to be effective (most clinics recommend a minimum of 8-10 sessions), and if she's not on hormone therapy yet, it will be many times more difficult.

She could try waxing (but it's painful on the face), or depilatory creams (which can irritate the skin); there's also a cream called Vaniqa, which doesn't remove hair as such, but prevents (or at least, slows) regrowth when the hair has been removed by other means.

This answer is probably not much help to you, but the sad fact is, there is NO fast, easy, or cheap way of permanently removing male-pattern facial hair.

If she is trans-gendered I wonder that her doctor didn't provide her with the correct hormones to counter hair growth! Nair will never work on a beard, the hair is simply too tough. Go over to http://www.drugstore.com and take a look at some of the electrolysis units they sell for at home use. Then go elsewhere to see if you can find them a bit less expensive than they are there. Good luck!
